  1. I was glad to find this for a reasonable price. I have the rail with holes, but the Festool version is too expensive so I made my own. It does the job of drilling shelf pin holes but is pretty clunky and I don\’t enjoy setting it up and using it. I appreciate the much smaller footprint of this jig, easier to store and set up.

I agree with the previous review. When moving this along the rail, you should hold it in the area of the pin/knob. If you try to move the router, it will deflect. At least that was true with my homemade version.

I got it for a DW618, but that router is currently not accessible, so I put the Makita trim plunge router in it\’s place for the photo. I plan to get a base for the Makita to swap out with the Dewalt, since I believe you can use it with more than one base. I\’ll try the larger router for dog holes and the trim router for shelf pins.

I\’d give it 5 stars but it seems a bit thinner than I\’d like, perhaps it could be beefed up a bit.

Update: Apparently there is not a base for my Makita trim router. I’d suggest you consider making them for some trim routers with plunge bases. Also, it would be nifty to make the Domirail compatible with it, that would speed things up with spacing without the fiddly attachments that Festool makes for that.

  2. Just used this to cut a bunch of MFT holes using the LR32 rail and my Dewalt DW618 router. This works well, but plastic feels a little delicate. Slide movement was stiff at first but improved with use. Moving the router and guide along the rail can be done most easily with the hand on the guide that lifts the pin — thumb and forefinger pull up the pin and lower part of the hand pushes along the angled block around the pin. Pin registration in holes was perfect.
